Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Warm water - 1/2 cup
- Ghee or vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Butter - for brushing
- Optional: chopped cilantro - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add warm water and knead the mixture into a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal balls. Take one ball and roll it out into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Brush a thin layer of ghee or oil on the rolled-out dough. Fold the dough in half, then brush again with ghee and fold again to form a triangle.
- Roll the triangle out gently to about 1/4 inch thickness. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat. Cook each paratha for 2-3 minutes on each side, adding a little ghee or butter until golden brown and flaky.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with chopped cilantro, alongside your favorite curry or yogurt.
