Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Ghee or vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Semolina - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
- Gradually add water and knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- After resting, divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
- Grease each ball lightly with ghee or oil, then flatten them slightly. Cover and let them rest for another 15 minutes.
- On a lightly oiled surface, take one ball and roll it out into a thin circle. Use your hands to stretch it further if necessary.
- Sprinkle some semolina on the surface of the rolled-out dough, then fold it into a rectangle, creating layers.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a little ghee or oil.
- Place the folded dough onto the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Repeat with the remaining dough portions, adding more ghee or oil as needed.
- Serve hot with your choice of dhal or curry.
