Ingredients
- Kidney beans (rajma) - 200 grams
- Boiled potato - 100 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- Green chilies (finely chopped) - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Oil (for shallow frying) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Soak the kidney beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse the beans, then boil them in fresh water until soft, about 30 minutes.
- Once boiled, drain the kidney beans and mash them in a large bowl along with the boiled potato.
- Add the finely chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper to the mashed mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Gradually add breadcrumbs to the mixture until it reaches a consistency that can hold its shape. You may not need all the breadcrumbs.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into small patties.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties carefully and shallow fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the patties from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip.
