  • Rice flour - 50 grams
  • Urad dal flour - 30 grams

  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - as needed
  • Oil - for deep frying

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ragi flour, rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth dough forms that is pliable but not sticky.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Fill a murukku press with the prepared dough using a star-shaped nozzle.
  5. Once the oil is hot, carefully press the dough into the hot oil in circular shapes, frying a few at a time.
  6. Fry until the murukku turns golden brown and crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Allow the Ragi Murukku to cool before serving.
