- Water - 250 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Banana - 1 (for serving)

Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour and salt. Add water gradually and mix until you achieve a crumbly, moist texture.
- Add half of the grated coconut to the flour mixture and mix well. If using, also add cardamom powder.
- Prepare a puttu maker or a steamer by filling the lower compartment with water and bringing it to a boil.
- Layer the puttu maker starting with a spoonful of the remaining grated coconut at the bottom.
- Next, fill the rest of the space with the rice flour mixture, leaving some space at the top for steam to circulate.
- Add another layer of grated coconut on top.
- Place the puttu maker over the boiling water and steam for about 10-15 minutes, or until you see steam escaping from the holes.
- Once done, remove from heat and let it cool for a minute. Carefully push the puttu out using the stick provided with the puttu maker.
- Serve hot with sliced banana and sugar or jaggery on the side.
