  • Firm Tofu - 250 grams
  • Besan (Chickpea Flour) - 100 grams
  • Rice Flour - 50 grams
  • Ajwain (Carom Seeds) - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - as needed for batter
  • Oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water and slice it into fish-like fillets.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine besan, rice flour, ajwain, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
  3. Add lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and enough water to make a smooth batter.
  4. Dip each tofu fillet into the batter until well coated.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Carefully place the battered tofu fillets in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  7. Remove the fried tofu and place it on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with mint chutney and lemon wedges.
