Ingredients

  • Puffed rice - 100 grams
  • Peanut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
  • Chopped onion - 1/4 cup
  • Chopped tomato - 1/4 cup
  • Chopped coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Roasted peanuts - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Heat the peanut oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them sizzle until they start to pop.
  3. Stir in the turmeric powder and chili powder, and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Stir in the chopped tomato and cook for another 2 minutes until softened.
  6. Add the puffed rice to the pan, mixing well to coat it with the spice mixture.
  7. Season with salt, and toss in the chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice.
  8. Remove from heat and fold in the roasted peanuts before serving.
