Ingredients

  • Prawns (cleaned and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Yogurt - 100 grams
  • Ginger paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Skewers - 4 (soaked in water if wooden)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt to create a marinade.
  2. Add the cleaned prawns to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat (about 200°C or 400°F).
  4. Thread the marinated prawns onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each prawn.
  5. Brush the skewers with oil and place them on the grill or in the oven.
  6. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the prawns are cooked through and have a slight char.
  7. Remove from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
  8. Serve the prawn tikka hot with mint chutney and lemon wedges.
