Ingredients

  • Prawns, peeled and deveined - 200 grams
  • Puri (store-bought or homemade) - 10 pieces
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 medium
  • Tomato, finely chopped - 1 medium
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Green chili, finely chopped - 1 small
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Cilantro, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - for cooking (about 2 tablespoons)

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Mix in coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt, cooking for another minute.
  6. Add the prawns to the pan and cook until they turn pink and opaque, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and chopped cilantro, and drizzle lemon juice over the mixture. Stir well and remove from heat.
  8. To serve, place a spoonful of the prawn mixture onto each puri, garnishing with additional cilantro if desired.
