- Prawns - 300 grams, cleaned and deveined
- Coconut milk - 200 ml
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Green chili - 1, slit
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - 10 leaves
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh coriander - for garnish
Steps
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add curry leaves.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili. Sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil starts to separate.
- Pour in the coconut milk and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the cleaned prawns to the pan and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh coriander, and serve hot.
