Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, cleaned and deveined
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Ginger - 1 inch, grated
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Green chili - 1, slit
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - 10 leaves
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add curry leaves.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chili. Sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil starts to separate.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the cleaned prawns to the pan and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh coriander, and serve hot.
