Ingredients

  • Puri shells - 12 pieces
  • Prawns (cleaned and deveined) - 200 grams
  • Tamarind pulp - 2 tablespoons
  • Chaat masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Green chilies (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the tamarind pulp, chaat masala, red chili powder, coriander powder, lemon juice, chopped coriander, and salt. Add water to adjust the consistency to a thin sauce and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and green chilies, sautéing until the onions become translucent.
  3. Add the cleaned prawns to the pan and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Once cooled, mix the cooked prawns with the tamarind sauce prepared earlier. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. To serve, gently crack the top of each puri shell, fill it with the prawn mixture, and serve immediately with extra tamarind sauce on the side.
