Ingredients

  • Prawns (peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 inch piece
  • Green chilies (slit) - 1
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mustard oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Heat the mustard oil in a pan over medium heat until hot.
  2. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chilies, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the turmeric, coriander, and cumin powders, mixing well and cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk, stirring to combine, and let it simmer for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  6. Add the prawns and salt, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until the prawns are opaque and cooked through.
  7. Sprinkle the garam masala and stir well, allowing it to cook for an additional minute.
  8. Remove from heat and finish with a drizzle of lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves before serving.
