Ingredients

  • Prawns, cleaned and deveined - 250 grams
  • Gram flour (besan) - 50 grams
  • Rice flour - 25 grams
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Oil for frying - as needed

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the gram flour, rice flour, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt to create a smooth batter.
  2. Add the cleaned prawns to the batter, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying.
  4. Carefully drop marinated prawns into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the fried prawns with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  6. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges and your choice of chutney.
