Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, cleaned and deveined
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 2 medium, pureed
  • Capsicum (Bell Pepper) - 1 medium, diced
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Green Chili - 1, slit
  • Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cilantro (Coriander Leaves) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a kadai or deep pan over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and slit green chili, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil starts separating from the mixture.
  5. Sprinkle in turmeric, cumin, coriander, red chili powder, and salt, stirring well to combine.
  6. Add the diced capsicum and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  7. Add the cleaned prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  8. Finish with garam masala, chopped cilantro, and a squeeze of lemon juice, mixing everything well.
  9. Serve hot with rice or naan.
