Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, cleaned and deveined
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - 10 leaves
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coconut - 2 tablespoons, grated
  • Cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add curry leaves and chopped onions to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  3. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften.
  5. Add the prawns to the pan, mix well with the spices, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and grated coconut over the prawns, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or paratha.
