  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1, sliced
  • Onion - 1 small, sliced
  • Chutney (coconut or mint) - for serving

Steps

  1. In a pot, cook the split yellow moong dal with 250 ml of water until soft, about 15 minutes.
  2. Add the cooked rice to the pot with the dal, along with grated ginger, black pepper, cumin seeds, and salt. Mix well and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  6. To assemble the burger, place a patty on a lettuce leaf, top with sliced tomato, cucumber, and onion. Add chutney as desired.
