Ingredients

  • flattened rice - 1 cup
  • onion - 1 medium, chopped
  • green chili - 1, slit
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • peas - 1/2 cup
  • peanuts - 2 tbsp
  • curry leaves - 10
  • salt - to taste
  • lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves - for garnish
  • oil - 2 tbsp

Steps

  1. Wash the flattened rice in water and drain. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and peanuts.
  3. Add chopped onions and green chili; sauté until onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in turmeric powder and peas; cook for a few minutes until peas are tender.
  5. Add the drained flattened rice and salt; mix well.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove from heat, add lemon juice, and garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
