- Green mung beans - 100 grams
- Basmati rice - 100 grams
- Water - 500 ml
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Green chili - 1 small, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
Steps
- Rinse the green mung beans and basmati rice separately under running water until the water runs clear. Soak the mung beans in water for 4 hours and the rice for 30 minutes.
- After soaking, drain the mung beans and rice, then blend them together with 200 ml of water until you achieve a smooth batter. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onions, green chili, and grated ginger. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Pour the prepared batter into the pan, spreading it evenly. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the pesarattu and cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes.
- Once both sides are cooked, remove from the pan and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.
