Ingredients
- Green gram (moong dal) - 150 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Cilantro (fresh coriander) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoons (for grilling)
- Skewers - 4 (soaked in water if wooden)
Steps
- Soak the green gram (moong dal) in water for 4-6 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked lentils and blend them into a coarse paste without adding water.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the moong dal paste with chopped onion, ginger, green chili, cilantro, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into kebabs around the skewers.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat and brush it with 1 tablespoon of oil.
- Place the kebabs on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through, brushing with remaining oil as needed.
- Once cooked, remove from the grill and serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip.
