- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
- Green chili - 1, slit (optional)
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Oil (vegetable or ghee) - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- Lemon - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- Rinse the masoor dal under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
- In a pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil, add the soaked masoor dal, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the lentils are soft, then drain and set aside.
- In a separate pot, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
