- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 100 ml (adjust as needed)
- Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Green chilies (finely chopped) - 1 (optional)
- Oil for deep frying - 500 ml
Steps
- Cut the paneer into 2 cm cubes and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, mixing until you achieve a smooth, thick batter that can coat the back of a spoon.
- Fold in the chopped coriander leaves and green chilies (if using) into the batter.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until hot.
- Dip each paneer cube into the batter, ensuring it is well coated, then carefully drop it into the hot oil.
- Fry the pakoras in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, until they are golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
- Remove the pakoras with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip.
