Ingredients

  • Paneer - 200 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Skewers - 4 (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes)

Steps

  1. Crumble the paneer into a bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in chopped tomatoes, green chili, turmeric, cumin, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften.
  5. Add the crumbled paneer to the pan and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and fresh coriander leaves over the mixture, and add lemon juice. Mix well and remove from heat.
  7. Preheat your grill or BBQ to medium-high heat.
  8. Take the paneer mixture and form small portions around each skewer, pressing them firmly to ensure they hold together.
  9. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they develop a nice char.
  10. Remove the skewers from the grill and serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt.
