Ingredients
- Paneer - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 small, finely chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Besan (gram flour) - 2 tablespoons
- Oil - for frying
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Crumble the paneer using your hands or a fork and set aside.
- In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili. Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add the crumbled paneer and mix well. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the spices.
- Remove from heat, and add the chopped cilantro and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly and let the mixture cool.
- Once cooled, add the besan to the mixture. It should bind the paneer together; adjust with more besan if necessary.
- Shape the mixture into kebabs or patties.
- Heat a non-stick pan or grill with a little oil over medium heat. Cook the kebabs for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip.
