Ingredients

  • Paneer - 200 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Besan (gram flour) - 2 tablespoons
  • Oil - for frying
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Crumble the paneer using your hands or a fork and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili. Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Add the crumbled paneer and mix well. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the spices.
  6. Remove from heat, and add the chopped cilantro and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly and let the mixture cool.
  7. Once cooled, add the besan to the mixture. It should bind the paneer together; adjust with more besan if necessary.
  8. Shape the mixture into kebabs or patties.
  9. Heat a non-stick pan or grill with a little oil over medium heat. Cook the kebabs for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip.
