- Paneer - 200 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- Milk - 100 ml
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios) - 2 tablespoons
- Saffron strands - a pinch
Steps
- Grate the paneer and set it aside.
- In a non-stick pan, heat 2 tablespoons of ghee over medium heat.
- Add the grated paneer to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it becomes warm.
- Add 100 ml of milk and 50 grams of sugar to the pan, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder and mix well.
- Cook the mixture for an additional 5-7 minutes until it leaves the sides of the pan.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or tray and spread it evenly.
- Garnish the top with chopped nuts and saffron strands, pressing them gently into the surface.
- Allow the barfi to cool for at least 15 minutes before cutting it into squares or diamonds.
