Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Fresh spinach (washed and chopped) - 1 cup
  • Water - as needed (approximately 1/4 cup)
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oil (for cooking) - 2 teaspoons
  • Yogurt (for serving) - 1/2 cup

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, chopped spinach, cumin seeds, grated ginger, chopped green chili, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a soft dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
  4. Dust the rolling surface with some flour and roll out each ball into a flat circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the rolled paratha on it.
  6. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until small bubbles form, then flip it over.
  7. Drizzle a teaspoon of oil around the edges and on top, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Repeat with the remaining dough balls, keeping the cooked parathas warm in a cloth.
  9. Serve hot with yogurt on the side.
