Ingredients
- Beef shank - 400 grams
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Ginger paste - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Nihari spice mix - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 4 cups
- Fresh coriander - for garnish
- Lemon wedges - for serving
- Green chilies - for garnish
Steps
- In a large heavy-bottomed pot, heat the ghee over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger and garlic paste, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the Nihari spice mix and beef shank, ensuring the meat is well coated with the spices. Cook for 5 minutes to sear the meat.
- Pour in the water, bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for about 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Once cooked, remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook for an additional 15-20 minutes to reduce the sauce to your desired thickness.
- Taste and adjust the salt as needed. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander, green chilies, and lemon wedges.
