Ingredients

  • Fresh grated coconut - 200 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 100 grams
  • Almonds (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 50 ml

Steps

  1. In a non-stick pan, heat the ghee over medium heat.
  2. Add the grated coconut and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. In a separate bowl, dissolve the grated jaggery in 50 ml of water over low heat until it forms a syrup; this should take about 5 minutes.
  4. Once the jaggery is dissolved, pour it over the sautéed coconut mixture.
  5. Add the cardamom powder and chopped almonds to the mixture, and stir well to combine.
  6. Continue to cook on low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan, about 10-12 minutes.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or tray and flatten it evenly using a spatula.
  8. Allow it to cool for about 15-20 minutes before cutting it into squares or diamonds.
