- Fresh grated coconut - 200 grams
- Jaggery (grated) - 100 grams
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Almonds (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cashews (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- In a non-stick pan, add the grated coconut and water, and cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes until the coconut softens.
- Add the grated jaggery to the pan and mix well until it melts completely into the coconut mixture.
- Stir in the cardamom powder, chopped almonds, and cashews, and continue to cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Remove the mixture from heat and transfer it to a greased plate or tray. Flatten it with a spatula to form an even layer.
- Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes, then cut it into small squares or diamond shapes.
- Let the Nariyal Barfi set completely before serving.
