Ingredients

  • Fresh grated coconut - 200 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 100 grams
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Almonds (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Cashews (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. In a non-stick pan, add the grated coconut and water, and cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes until the coconut softens.
  2. Add the grated jaggery to the pan and mix well until it melts completely into the coconut mixture.
  3. Stir in the cardamom powder, chopped almonds, and cashews, and continue to cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  4. Remove the mixture from heat and transfer it to a greased plate or tray. Flatten it with a spatula to form an even layer.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes, then cut it into small squares or diamond shapes.
  6. Let the Nariyal Barfi set completely before serving.
