Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 100 grams
- Semolina - 30 grams
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Caraway seeds (Ajwain) - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Oil - 2 tablespoons (for dough)
- Water - 50 ml (as needed)
- Oil - for deep frying
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina, salt, caraway seeds, and chili powder.
- Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
- Gradually add water, kneading to form a smooth and firm dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- After resting, divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 2 mm thick).
- Cut the rolled circle into small squares or diamond shapes using a knife or pizza cutter.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the cut pieces in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Let them cool completely before serving. Enjoy your Namak Para with tea or as a snack.
