Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 100 grams
  • Semolina - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Caraway seeds (Ajwain) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons (for dough)
  • Water - 50 ml (as needed)
  • Oil - for deep frying

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina, salt, caraway seeds, and chili powder.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add water, kneading to form a smooth and firm dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. After resting, divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 2 mm thick).
  5. Cut the rolled circle into small squares or diamond shapes using a knife or pizza cutter.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the cut pieces in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  7. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Let them cool completely before serving. Enjoy your Namak Para with tea or as a snack.
