- Button mushrooms - 200 grams, finely chopped

- Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Breadcrumbs - 1/4 cup
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Oil - 2 tablespoons, for cooking
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Mayo - 2 tablespoons (optional)
Steps
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili to the pan, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped mushrooms, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the mushrooms release their moisture and are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly. Once cooled, mix in the chopped cilantro, breadcrumbs, and beaten egg until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into two patties. Refrigerate the patties for about 10 minutes to firm up.
- In the same pan, heat the remaining oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns lightly in a separate pan or toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf, a mushroom patty, tomato slices, cucumber slices, and mayo on each bun.
