- Mushrooms - 200 grams, sliced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, pureed
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Green chili - 1, slit
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 100 ml
Steps
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chili. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another minute.
- Incorporate the sliced mushrooms into the pan and sauté for about 5 minutes until they start to soften.
- Pour in the pureed tomato and mix everything together. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
- Add the water and bring the masala to a gentle simmer. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Stir in the garam masala and cook for 2 more minutes. Adjust salt if needed.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
