  • Rice flour - 1 cup

  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Warm water - as needed
  • Oil - for deep frying

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, urad dal flour, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, red chili powder, asafoetida, and salt.
  2. Gradually add warm water to the flour mixture and knead into a smooth, pliable dough.
  3. Fill a piping bag or a murukku maker with the dough.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Pipe the dough into spiral shapes onto a piece of parchment paper or directly into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  6. Fry until golden brown and crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Let the murukku cool completely before serving.
