- Puffed rice - 2 cups
- Peanut oil - 1 tablespoon
- Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Chopped onion - 1/4 cup
- Chopped tomato - 1/4 cup
- Chopped cilantro - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup
Steps
- Heat the peanut oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
- Stir in the turmeric powder and red chili powder, and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the chopped tomato and cook until soft, about 2 minutes.
- Add the puffed rice, salt, and roasted peanuts to the pan, and mix well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro and lemon juice.
- Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack.
