- Green chili - 1, slit
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cilantro (for garnish) - a handful, chopped
- Oil (cooking) - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 1 cup
Steps
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Sauté until they start to crackle.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and slit green chili; cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the chopped tomato and cook until it softens and starts to break down.
- Sprinkle in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked chickpeas and water; stir to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the fresh fenugreek leaves and garam masala. Mix well and let it cook for another 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
