Ingredients
- Potatoes - 300 grams
- Fresh methi (fenugreek) leaves - 50 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
- Oil - for shallow frying
Steps
- Boil the potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them in a mixing bowl.
- Wash the methi leaves thoroughly, chop them finely, and add to the mashed potatoes.
- In the same bowl, add chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger, cumin seeds, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Add rice flour to the mixture to bind it and make it easier to shape the tikkis. Mix until the mixture holds together.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty (tikki).
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the tikkis in the pan.
- Fry the tikkis for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt dip.
