Ingredients
- Masoor dal (red lentils) - 100 grams
- Water - 200 ml (for soaking)
- Fresh ginger - 1 tsp (grated)
- Green chili - 1 (finely chopped)
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)
- Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp (for cooking)
Steps
- Rinse the masoor dal under cold water and soak it in 200 ml of water for at least 2 hours.
- Drain the soaked dal and transfer it to a blender. Add a little water (about 50 ml) and blend until you get a smooth batter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the blended dal with grated ginger, chopped green chili, coriander leaves, cumin powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a smooth batter.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1/2 tablespoon of oil.
- Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a round pancake shape. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface.
- Flip the pancake and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding oil as needed.
- Serve the Masoor Dal Pancakes hot with yogurt or chutney.
