Ingredients

  • Masoor dal (red lentils) - 100 grams
  • Cauliflower rice - 200 grams
  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili (chopped) - 1 small
  • Salt - to taste
  • Water - 500 milliliters
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the masoor dal under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pot, heat ghee over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Allow them to sizzle for a few seconds.
  3. Add grated ginger and chopped green chili to the pot, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Drain the soaked masoor dal and add it to the pot, followed by turmeric powder and salt. Stir well to combine.
  5. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes, add the cauliflower rice to the pot, mix well, and cover again. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the dal and cauliflower are tender.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh coriander leaves, and serve hot.
