- Masoor dal (red lentils) - 100 grams
- Cauliflower rice - 200 grams
- Ghee - 1 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Green chili (chopped) - 1 small
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 500 milliliters
- Fresh coriander leaves (chopped) - for garnish
Steps
- Rinse the masoor dal under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 15 minutes.
- In a pot, heat ghee over medium heat and add cumin seeds. Allow them to sizzle for a few seconds.
- Add grated ginger and chopped green chili to the pot, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Drain the soaked masoor dal and add it to the pot, followed by turmeric powder and salt. Stir well to combine.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, add the cauliflower rice to the pot, mix well, and cover again. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the dal and cauliflower are tender.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh coriander leaves, and serve hot.
