Ingredients
- Ground lamb - 400 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped (optional)
- Burger buns - 2, whole wheat or regular
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
- Mint - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Yogurt - 1/2 cup
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, black pepper, and optional green chili. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Divide the lamb mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through to an internal temperature of 70°C.
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the mint yogurt sauce by combining chopped mint, yogurt, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked lamb patty, sliced tomato, cucumber, and a generous dollop of mint yogurt sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
