Ingredients

  • Tofu - 200 grams
  • Rice flour - 50 grams
  • Besan (gram flour) - 30 grams
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Curry leaves - 10 leaves
  • Coconut oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix rice flour, besan, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt.
  3. Add lemon juice and ginger-garlic paste to the dry ingredients, mixing well to form a batter.
  4. Coat each tofu slice evenly with the batter and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  5. Heat coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat, adding curry leaves for flavor.
  6. Fry the coated tofu slices for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fried tofu from the pan and place it on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with lemon wedges and a side of spicy chutney.
