Ingredients

  • Mackerel fillets - 300 grams
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. Clean the mackerel fillets and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt to create a marinade.
  3. Add the mackerel fillets to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. After marination, sprinkle rice flour over the fillets to coat them lightly, which will help achieve a crispy texture.
  5. Heat coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the marinated and coated mackerel fillets in the pan.
  7. Fry the fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the mackerel from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with a side of lemon wedges.
