Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Grated coconut - 50 grams
  • Jaggery - 40 grams
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Oil - for greasing

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, combine the grated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom powder. Cook over low heat until the jaggery melts and mixes well with the coconut. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water and knead into a smooth, pliable dough.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a lemon. Flatten each ball into a small disc using your fingers.
  4. Place a teaspoon of the coconut-jaggery filling in the center of each disc. Carefully fold the edges over to seal the filling inside, shaping it into a half-moon or round dumpling.
  5. Grease a steamer plate with a little oil and arrange the filled dumplings on it. Steam for about 10-15 minutes until they are cooked and glossy.
  6. Remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve warm, enjoying the sweet, fragrant flavors.
