Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery (grated) - 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the rice flour, salt, and water to form a soft, pliable dough. Cover and set aside.
  2. In a separate pan, combine grated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom powder over low heat. Cook until jaggery melts and the mixture thickens, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Grease your palms with a little ghee. Take a small portion of the rice dough and flatten it into a disc.
  4. Place a spoonful of the coconut filling in the center of the disc and carefully fold the edges over to seal it, forming a ball. Repeat for the remaining dough and filling.
  5. Arrange the filled balls in a steamer lined with banana leaves or a greased steamer tray. Steam for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Remove from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
