Ingredients
- Rice flour - 1 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Jaggery (grated) - 1/4 cup
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the rice flour, salt, and water to form a soft, pliable dough. Cover and set aside.
- In a separate pan, combine grated coconut, jaggery, and cardamom powder over low heat. Cook until jaggery melts and the mixture thickens, stirring continuously. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Grease your palms with a little ghee. Take a small portion of the rice dough and flatten it into a disc.
- Place a spoonful of the coconut filling in the center of the disc and carefully fold the edges over to seal it, forming a ball. Repeat for the remaining dough and filling.
- Arrange the filled balls in a steamer lined with banana leaves or a greased steamer tray. Steam for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
