Kozhukattai

Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery - 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tsp (optional)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine rice flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth dough.
  2. In a separate pan, melt jaggery with a little water over low heat until it dissolves.
  3. Add grated coconut and cardamom powder to the jaggery mixture and stir well until combined. Cook for 2-3 minutes and let it cool.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls. Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery mixture in the center.
  5. Carefully fold the edges over the filling and seal to form a dumpling.
  6. Grease a steamer basket with ghee and arrange the dumplings in it. Steam for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Remove from the steamer and serve warm.
