Ingredients

  • Fresh coriander leaves - 200 grams, finely chopped
  • Chickpea flour (besan) - 100 grams
  • Rice flour - 25 grams
  • Green chili - 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon, for greasing
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpea flour, rice flour, chopped coriander, green chili, grated ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring continuously to avoid lumps, until you achieve a smooth batter.
  3. Mix in the lemon juice and ensure all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Grease a steaming tray or a shallow dish with oil and pour the batter into it, spreading it evenly.
  5. Prepare a steamer by boiling water in a pot. Once boiling, place the tray with the batter into the steamer.
  6. Cover and steam for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Once done, remove the tray from the steamer and let it cool slightly before cutting it into squares.
  8. Serve hot with chutney or your choice of dip.
