Ingredients

  • Prawns - 300 grams, cleaned and deveined
  • Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, minced
  • Green chilies - 2, slit
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, marinate the cleaned prawns with turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add minced garlic, ginger, and slit green chilies to the pan. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and break down, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the marinated prawns to the pan and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
  6. Add the grated coconut and mix well, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, add lemon juice, and garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
