- Prawns - 300 grams, cleaned and deveined
- Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 inch, minced
- Green chilies - 2, slit
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a bowl, marinate the cleaned prawns with turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt for 15 minutes.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add minced garlic, ginger, and slit green chilies to the pan. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and break down, about 5 minutes.
- Add the marinated prawns to the pan and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
- Add the grated coconut and mix well, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add lemon juice, and garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
