Ingredients

  • Fish fillet (preferably Bhetki or any white fish) - 200 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Rice flour - 1/4 cup
  • Gram flour - 1/4 cup
  • Water - as needed
  • Breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Oil (for frying) - 1/2 cup
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 leaves
  • Onion (sliced) - 1 small
  • Tomato (sliced) - 1 small
  • Cilantro-mint chutney - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a bowl, marinate the fish fillet with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix rice flour and gram flour, adding enough water to form a smooth batter.
  3. Coat the marinated fish fillet in the batter, then roll it in breadcrumbs to create a crispy layer.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the coated fish fillet in the oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. While the fish is frying, toast the burger buns lightly on a pan.
  6. Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the fried fish fillet, sliced onion, and tomato. Drizzle cilantro-mint chutney over the top and cover with the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately while hot with extra chutney on the side.
