- Sooji (semolina) - 100 grams
- Ghee - 50 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews) - 30 grams
- Raisins - 20 grams
Steps
- In a pan, heat the ghee on medium heat until melted.
- Add the sooji to the ghee and roast it, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
- In a separate pot, bring the water to a boil and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved.
- Slowly pour the sugar water into the roasted sooji, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add the cardamom powder and mix well, allowing it to cook for another 5-7 minutes on low heat until it thickens.
- In the last few minutes, add the chopped nuts and raisins, mixing them into the halwa.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving warm.
