Ingredients
- Chickpea flour (besan) - 100 grams
- Ghee (clarified butter) - 80 grams
- Jaggery (grated) - 75 grams
- Water - 100 milliliters
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Chopped nuts (cashews or almonds) - 20 grams
Steps
- In a saucepan, add the jaggery and water. Heat over medium flame until the jaggery dissolves completely, then bring it to a one-string consistency (about 5-7 minutes).
- In a separate pan, heat the ghee on low flame. Once hot, add the chickpea flour and roast it, stirring continuously, until it turns golden brown and aromatic (about 10-12 minutes).
- Slowly pour the jaggery syrup into the roasted chickpea flour mixture, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add the cardamom powder and continue stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan (about 5-7 minutes).
- Grease a small tray or plate with ghee and pour the mixture into it, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and press them gently into the mixture.
- Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes, then cut into squares or diamonds and serve.
