Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 50 grams
  • Jaggery - 75 grams, grated
  • Ghee - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 250 milliliters
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chopped nuts (almonds and cashews) - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the chopped nuts and sauté until golden brown, then remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the rice flour and roast it on low heat for about 5-7 minutes until it turns slightly golden and fragrant.
  3. Pour in the water gradually, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the grated jaggery and salt to the mixture, stirring well until the jaggery melts completely.
  5. Sprinkle in the cardamom powder and mix thoroughly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the halwa reaches your desired consistency.
  6. Garnish with the sautéed nuts and serve warm.
