Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Jaggery (grated) - 50 grams
  • Curd (yogurt) - 50 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Coconut (grated, for garnish) - 2 tablespoons
  • Chopped nuts (cashews, almonds) - 1 tablespoon
  • Ghee (for greasing) - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, jaggery, curd, and water. Mix until smooth and lump-free.
  2. Add baking soda and cardamom powder to the mixture, and stir well to incorporate.
  3. Grease a steaming dish or plate with ghee to prevent sticking.
  4. Pour the batter into the greased dish and spread it evenly.
  5. Fill a steamer with water and bring it to a boil. Place the dish with the batter in the steamer.
  6. Cover and steam for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Once cooked, remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes.
  8. Cut into squares or diamond shapes, garnish with grated coconut and chopped nuts, and serve warm.
